Killingdown Farm Application Refused - Residents Should Be Proud

KILLINGDOWN FARM APPLICATION REFUSED - RESIDENTS SHOULD BE PROUD

Three Rivers District Council refused the application to build 160 dwellings at Killingdown Farm in Croxley Green at the Planning Committee on 27 May. Residents should be proud - their huge response and engagement delivered a very clear message. The Lib Dems will work hard to ensure residents concerns continue to be heard and that any development of the site takes better account of its surroundings.

The motion to refuse was proposed and seconded by Liberal Democrat Councillors Sara Bedford and Chris Lloyd. The reasons for refusal were on heritage grounds and damage to The Green Conservation Area, lack of a S106 Agreement and the overbearing proximity of PLOT 26 on 5 Little Green.

Lib Dem Dickinsons ward Councillors Margaret Hofman and Dominic Sokalski spoke at the meeting to oppose the application. Both met with the developers several times to challenge their plans and spoke at all the planning committees to oppose the proposed development.

Cllr Margaret Hofman said, ''This land was taken out of the Green belt by the government several years ago. The application put forward was insensitive to Croxley Green and its community. The plans to use the historic Little Green Lane as the sole access point was more than just about highways. It was a matter of permanent harm to the character of The Green. The use of Little Green Lane, a setting enjoyed by generations of our community, would make it urbanised and be lost to us forever.

We will keep working hard to engage with the developers, so they do not just go down the appeal route. It is critical they listen to residents' concerns. I will continue to listen to residents and leave the developers in no doubt as to what residents think''.
